The Guide for Stainless Steel Pipe Fittings

industrial pipe suppliers

Brass pipe fittings were mainly used in the manufacturing and commercial industries before stainless steel came and brought it to another level. After seeing the amazing benefits of stainless steel for other applications, the change in material tastes came quickly!

Today, industrial pipe suppliers do not only use stainless steel for pipe fittings, but also for flanges and instrumentation valves.

Pipe Fittings

For connecting bores of two (or multiple) pipes or tubes to separate equipment, a pipe fitting is usually used. Manufacturers and industrial pipe suppliers of stainless steel pipe fittings also suggest further use as a fluid flow control system for pipe fittings, i.e. to close and seal any pipe, you can also use pipe fittings.

Two Forms of Pipe Fittings

There are two types of Pipe Fittings, i.e. Male and Female Fittings. What difference does it make?

On the inside of threaded pipe fittings, the female threads are used while male threads on the pipe fittings are added. Usually, pipe fittings have one female end, with the other being male. These are known as fittings for the streets. Pipe fittings can be used to connect pipes and tubes in the following ways:

        By Threading

In this process, threaded pipes are threaded together to connect to the regular pipes and fittings.

        BySlip-fit

These pipes are built with sleeves that assist one pipe easily slide into another fitting of the tube.

Why Stainless Steel Pipe Fittings

Stainless steel is a type of steel which demonstrates high resistance to corrosion. Due to the creation of a passive oxide film, the steel is self-repairing. With an increase in molybdenum and chromium content, the resistance properties of this defensive layer are improved. Generally, 17-18% chromium content and 8-12% nickel content are found in standard stainless steel alloys for piping. The most commonly used pipe fittings are Stainless Steel 304 Pipe Fittings and SS 316 Pipe Fittings.

Tips – make Selection of Pipe Fittings Easier

There are various kinds of pipe fittings available that can make it difficult for buyers to choose the most appropriate one according to the application for which it is needed. Some helpful points are given below that will make the selection process easier.

Connection Type: There are two different types of connectors for each fitting, i.e. one end may be male and female threaded. Similarly, one end can be threaded and a male slip could appear on the other.

Construction Materials: There is not a fixed law for experts here. However, it is safer for those pipe fittings that are of the same material as the pipe where fittings would be added. There are several situations where there is no implementation of this law.
