Agricultural Irrigation Pipes for High or Low pH Values

Modern farming depends very heavily on plumbing infrastructure, especially if it is something emerging, such as hydroponics or aquaponics. Choosing the right agricultural irrigation pipe for your farming system can be difficult, considering how many levels of pH values you have to go through in the agricultural or food processing industry.

Steel Pipes for Irrigation

Steel piping infrastructure has been in effect in the agricultural industry for over half a century now. These days you will find several types of metal pipes in farming, such as:

  • Aluminum pipes
  • Galvanized steel pipes
  • Stainless steel pipes
  • Chromium nickel-copper alloy pipes

How pH Values Affect the Choice?

The first thing you will need to consider while choosing agricultural irrigation pipes is the quality of the water that shall flow through them. There are three main factors here:

  1. Composition of the water
  2. pH value of the water
  3. The effluent of the water

All three can stress the quality and requirements of steel irrigation pipes. For the most part, corrosion is the main issue and the pH value factors here the most. Galvanized steel can withstand high pH liquids, but the zinc gets dissolved in low pH values (<6.0) and the steel gets exposed. If you expect low pH water flow a lot, stick to aluminum pipes.

The food processing industry has a different problem altogether. Their waters carry effluents with very erratic pH values, often high or low. For scenarios with highly fluctuating pH values, your choice of agricultural irrigation pipes must include stainless steel pipes.

Characteristics of Agricultural Irrigation Pipes

For the farming industry, the pipeline infrastructure must have some specific properties for it to be practical and durable. An agricultural irrigation pipe must have low flow resistance, with roughness in the vicinity of 0.008. It should have pretty high tensile strength, not less than 45 mpA. Other mechanical properties, such as good compression strength, are also desirable for steel irrigation pipes.

If your site is in a rather remote location, transportation and installment can be an issue. In that case, you should choose convenient transportation and installation over other properties. In such a scenario, PVC agricultural pipes can be your best friend.

Talk to your irrigation system designer; they should design the system in such a way that there is no secondary pollution flow that can contaminate the original water. The pipes themselves should be completely non-toxic, with service life extending 50 years or so, on paper at least.

Your agricultural irrigation pipes should be able to withstand a lot of pressure. They need to be at least one and a half times stronger than the designed pressure. The walls of the pipes should be uniform, with an error margin of less than 5%. The cross-sectional shape of the pipes should not vary either. Make sure the connectors are not leaking.

The Guide for Stainless Steel Pipe Fittings

Brass pipe fittings were mainly used in the manufacturing and commercial industries before stainless steel came and brought it to another level. After seeing the amazing benefits of stainless steel for other applications, the change in material tastes came quickly! Today, industrial pipe suppliers do not only use stainless steel for pipe fittings, but also for flanges and instrumentation valves. Pipe Fittings For connecting bores of two (or multiple) pipes or tubes to separate equipment, a pipe fitting is usually used. Manufacturers and industrial pipe suppliers of stainless steel pipe fittings also suggest further use as a fluid flow control system for pipe fittings, i.e. to close and seal any pipe, you can also use pipe fittings. Two Forms of Pipe Fittings There are two types of Pipe Fittings, i.e. Male and Female Fittings. What difference does it make? On the inside of threaded pipe fittings, the female threads are used while male threads on the pipe fittings are adde

Knowledge about Farm Gates You Ought to Have

You are accustomed to numerous farm gates if you live or work on a farm, either used as an entrance to your pasture or to keep your livestock secure. There are however a few variables of steel pipe farm gates that can have a significant impact on each gate's particular application. You need to consider the coating options (galvanizing or painting) best fit the requirements, which mounting options (scanners) are optimal, and which wire or covering would be better for the particular needs of each gate. Access Styles You will need to decide which form of farm gate fits your requirements best. As mentioned below, there are various types of farm gates to choose from: Bow gates : A pedestrian gate inside a farm gate is a bow gate. The farm gate is 4m high, for instance, and the pedestrian portion is 900mm wide. Usually, the farm gate is 1.2m wide, but the pedestrian portion is around 1.7m high. The installation of the pedestrian gate stops pedestrians from climbing and damagin

Bollard Pipes for Industrial Usage

Bollard pipes are widely used in the industrial area due to its versatility and durability. Besides, it has some of the other benefits like, reducing the car accident risks by installing the security pipe bollards . Here, some of the many usages are mentioned. Scroll down to know more. For usage in buildings Security pipe bollards are used to create a physical barrier so that the vehicle cannot infringe on the buildings. Bollard pipe acts as the visual guide by preventing people from driving accidentally. Security Have you seen large concrete-like structures in the front of the bank and the ATMs? Those pipes are known as the steel pipe bollards. Bollards are used to prevent car collisions and security breaches. Safety in the parking lot The parking lot has the record of most car crashes. As the drivers’ cars backing in and out spontaneously, it can hit the pedestrians. Security bollards can protect the pedestrian area and pedestrians from being hit. Usage in warehous
